Jiri David´s neuestes Projekt no compassion wird zum erstenmal ausserhalb Tschechiens im PROJEKTRAUM VIKTOR BUCHER gezeigt.
Die Serie no compassion besteht aus manipulierten Photo-Portraits bekannter zeitgenössischer Politiker. Jiri David´s neueste Arbeit kann man Fortsetzung der Photo-Serie The Hidden Image sehen, in der s/w Photos von Persönlichkeiten aus Kultur, Kunst, Sport, Wissenschaft und Politik so manipuliert wurden, als seien diese symetrisch und offenbarten dadurch ihre "versteckte Persönlichkeit".
In der Farb-Photoserie no compassion werden Politiker wie Bush, Putin, Blair, S. Hussein oder Havel vor immer demgleichen Hintergrund montiert - mit Tränen in den Augen. Das ist umso frappierender, als man diesen starken Männern nicht zutrauen würde, Gefühle in aller Öffentlichkeit zu zeigen. Machen sie sich lustig oder könnten ihre Tränen als ein Eingeständnis von Fehlern - natürlich passiert im eigenen nationalen Interesse - verstanden werden?
Jiri David´s new art project will be introduced for the first time outside the Czech republic in the PROJEKTRAUM VIKTOR BUCHER.
The project consists of manipulated photo portraits of well-known contemporary politicians. This is a follow-up to his previous photography project The Hidden Image and which consisted of original black and white photographs of personalities from the spheres of culture, art, sport, science as well as politics. The Hidden Image attempted to discover the hidden personalities of these people by showing how they would look like if there faces were symetrical.
His new project entitled no compassion are a series of color photos (100 x 150 cm) of,among others, George Bush, Vladimir Putin, Tony Blair, Saddam Hussein and Vaclav Havel - each pictured on the same background. However, the most significant feature of these photos is that all of these world-leaders are crying even though they tried not to. This is not a satire, a cheap choke or a gimmick, it is about imagination and surprise and that´s why the vision is even stronger.
